Jewelry Care

To ensure your Muchakucha HK pieces remain as enchanting as the day you received them, please follow these specialized care instructions based on the materials in your collection.

Silver

Our silver jewelry are handcrafted with different types of silver, including 999 fine silver clay, 940 Argentium silver and 925 Sterling silver. While each of them are differ in hardness and other characteristics, we recommend the following general silver care routine.

Gentle Use: Many of our silver pieces are hand-sculpted from 999 fine silver clay. Due to its unique kiln-fired process, the finished product has a slightly porous structure that is more brittle and prone to breaking if dropped or forced. Additionally, as silver is naturally soft, all our pieces—including 925 and 940 silver—may bend or deform under high impact. Please handle with care and remove your jewelry before exercise, gardening, or heavy lifting.

"Last On, First Off": Always apply perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays before putting on your jewelry. Chemicals in beauty products can accelerate tarnishing or dull the luster of the metal.

Avoid Water Exposure: Remove your jewelry before swimming in chlorinated pools or soaking in hot springs. Sulfur and chlorine can cause immediate, deep tarnishing.

Freshwater Pearls

Pearls are organic gemstones and are "last on, first off" items.

Avoid Chemicals: They are highly sensitive to acids and chemicals. Always apply perfume, hairspray, and makeup before putting on your pearls.

Avoid Moisture: Do not submerge pearls in water. To clean, wipe them with a slightly damp, soft cloth only.

Storage: Store them flat and away from other metal jewelry that could scratch their delicate surface.

Gemstones

We use various natural and synthetic gemstones that may require gentle handling.

Avoid Heat: Sudden temperature changes can cause some gemstones to crack. Keep them away from intense heat or prolonged direct sunlight.

Cleaning: Most gemstones can be cleaned with lukewarm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft brush. Check the type before cleaning.

Avoid Impact: Natural stones can chip or shatter upon heavy impact. Always remove gemstone rings before heavy lifting or exercise.

Cream clay

Our hand piped cream clay flowers are finished with a protective UV resin coating. To preserve their delicate details and vibrant colors, please follow these specialized care steps:

Handling: The clay flowers are coated with UV resin and shouldn’t be broken under normal usage. However, like all fine art, they should be handled gently. Please do not pull or put great pressure onto the product.

Avoid Sunlight & Humidity: To prevent the color from fading over time, avoid prolonged exposure to strong UV or extremely humid environments.

Storage: When not in use, keep your jewelry in its original packaging box in a cool, dry place to protect it from dust and environmental wear.

Water Exposure: While the resin coating is water-resistant, the jewelry should not be submerged for extended periods. Please remove your jewelry before swimming or showering to ensure its longevity.

Chemical Warning: Avoid contact with rubbing alcohol (including hand sanitizers and alcohol wipes), and other cleaning chemicals, as they will permanently damage and dull the resin coating.

Cleaning: To clean the surface of the flowers, use a piece of tape or poster putty to gently lift and "stick away" any dust or stains.

Polymer Clay

Polymer clay is a lightweight and durable material, but it requires specific care to maintain its vibrancy and shape:

Flexibility & Handling: While polymer clay has a slight natural flexibility, it can snap if bent with force. Handle your pieces with care and avoid dropping them on hard surfaces.

Heat Sensitivity: Avoid leaving your jewelry in high-temperature environments (such as a hot car or near a heater). Polymer clay may deform, soften, or lose its shape if exposed to high heat.

Avoid Chemicals: Keep your jewelry away from perfumes and lotions. Specifically, avoid contact with rubbing alcohol, acetone (nail polish remover), and oils, as these can cause the clay to become sticky or degrade.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. We recommend keeping these pieces in their original box to prevent harder metal jewelry from scratching its surface.

Water Exposure: While naturally water-resistant, we recommend removing pieces before swimming or showering to protect the metal findings.

Cleaning: Gently wipe the surface with a damp, soft cloth. For stubborn stains, use a tiny drop of mild soapy water, then dry immediately.
